Meet our Foundation Board

Deb Moriarty

Class Year: 1976

I recently retired after working for close to 50 years in Higher Education, specifically in Student Affairs – life outside the classroom. My long and successful career can be traced back to my time at Southern Connecticut State College. As a Recreation and Leisure education major, I found a wide variety of opportunities and mentorships available that helped me identify my passion for helping students learn and grow outside of the classroom. Throughout my career I held positions at UCLA, UC San Diego, University of Michigan, University of Maryland Baltimore County and Towson University (Maryland). At Towson, I served as Vice President for Student Affairs for fifteen years. During that time, I served on a number of boards most notably on NASPA’s Board of Directors where I was ultimately elected to serve as the chair of the board. I finished my career as Director of the Office of the President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees at Franklin & Marshall College (Lancaster, PA). My transformative experience at Southern combined with my professional career has resulted in my desire to give back to Southern Connecticut State University as part of the Alumni Board of Directors.
