Alumni Association Awards celebrate the accomplishments and service of our alumni with the following honors:

The James Barber Distinguished Alumni Award

The James Barber Distinguished Alumni Award is the Association’s most prestigious award. This honor is conferred on alumni who have achieved professional recognition for exemplary performance and whose extraordinary achievements have enhanced the image of the university.

Any alumni who have graduated with a degree from SCSU.

Recipients should have gained notoriety or achievement on the regional and/or national level.

Recipients should have achieved professional recognition for exemplary performance with achievements that have greatly enhanced the image of the university.

Members of the Alumni Board and their family members are not eligible to be selected or receive the award during their period of service.

The Charlene Hill Riccardi Service Award

The Charlene Hill Riccardi Service Award is presented to alumni who have made significant, tangible contributions to the betterment of the university’s and/or Alumni Association’s physical, social, and/or academic environment.

Any alumni who have graduated with a degree from SCSU.

Recipients should have gained notoriety or achievement on the regional and/or national level.

Recipients should have achieved professional recognition for exemplary performance with achievements that have greatly enhanced the image of the university.

Members of the Alumni Board and their family members are not eligible to be selected or receive the award during their period of service.

The Young Alumni Professional Award

The Young Alumni Professional Award is presented to alumni age 40 or under who have been acknowledged by their peers for outstanding work in their chosen field and have significant career achievements.

Alumni who have graduated with a degree from SCSU and have not reached the age of 41 by January 1 of the award presentation year.

Recipients should show a record of career achievement, promise of future professional success and/or exemplary research in their chosen field.

A demonstrated commitment to SCSU may also be considered.

Members of the Alumni Board and their family members are not eligible to be selected or receive the award during their period of service.

The Dorothy Martino Alumni Appreciation Award

The Dorothy Martino Alumni Appreciation Award is bestowed on an individual or organization in recognition of significant contributions to the university and/or the Alumni Association.

Recipients should demonstrate exemplary assistance, support and service to SCSU and/or the Alumni Association.

Any alumnus or non-alumnus.

Members of the Alumni Board and their family members are not eligible to be selected or receive the award during their period of service.
